Before we get started, I want to pay homage to the legend Roberta Flack, who passed this week at 88. This video of her accepting the Grammy for Killing Me Softly, Best Female Pop Performance, is so perfect.

The Spirit Awards reminded me that I forgot to watch Janet Planet, the first movie by beloved playwright and Pulitzer award winning Annie Baker. You can watch it on Hulu or MAX. I can’t lie, when I first heard the title, all I could think about was her.
Before it closed, I ran to see the Alvin Ailey exhibit at The Whitney. It was inspiring to be in a room that shifted my perspective on how movement can be portrayed.
One of my favorite from the collection was, “Dancer,” by Barkley L. Hendricks, a photographer and painter who revolutionized portraiture through his realist paintings of Black Americans living in urban areas in the 60s and 70s.

What is the sound of your phone timer? I changed mine so it doesn’t send a shiver down my spine. “Daybreak” is chill and vibe-y. It makes me gently stop what I’m doing instead of a jolting me awake after ten minutes.
